PROBLEM
As one of Turkey's largest e-commerce platforms, calculating the carbon footprint of our operational processes and taking steps in line with our sustainability goals was one of our most important agenda items. However, since we are a service-oriented technology company, our emission sources were different and more scattered compared to traditional industrial companies. Collecting emission data from various categories such as data centers, offices, employee commuting, and the supply chain, and converting this data into meaningful reports according to international standards (GHG Protocol) was a highly complex process. Manual tracking of this data increased the margin of error and prevented us from basing our sustainability strategies on scientific data.

Despite our scattered operations, the Carbon Gate platform provided us with great ease in collecting and analyzing data from our various emission sources (Scope 1, 2, and 3) in a single center. This platform, which can automatically process all our operational data, from the energy consumption of our data centers to the heating systems of our offices, made our carbon footprint calculation process transparent and auditable. Thanks to this solution, we can clearly see the areas where our emissions are highest and take concrete steps to increase our operational efficiency.
